The market is full of new and exciting techniques,
and Westgate has captured two wonderfully fresh patterns that are not
only innovative, but timely as well. Each pattern represents a
different fabric category in our line (hence the I & II) and each is
unique enough that they do not fit into another roadline grouping, but
together they find a great bond. As they represent new ideas in fabric
design we decided to show this as a two part, two group collection
within a collection! “Vermicelli” is whimsical and fun! This
drapery fabric features hand sewn ribbon atop a loose weave textured
ground cloth. Shown in three transitional colorations, this fabric is
imported exclusively for Westgate! “Encore” fits its name
perfectly, and this introduction is sure to receive encores from
customers everywhere! This alternating stripe of flat woven tweed and
cut pile is one of the most innovative fabrics we have seen in years.
The judges of the Trend exhibit at the Decosit fabric exhibition in
Brussels agreed this past September when it was named “Best of Trend!”
Because of this several others wanted to purchase this clever cloth, but
our design studio had already committed for this Westgate exclusive
three months prior and now it is ours alone! Shown in seven luscious
color combinations, the Innovations Collection from Westgate…innovative
and VERY Westgate! |

This lovely three pattern collection was found by our studio at the Proposte fabric exhibition in Italy last May. Transitional in nature, this combination of textured woven grounds and dimensional chenille motifs combine to form this exciting transitional collection. “Valencia Floral” features graceful vines of foliage and “stencil” flowers (a fabric trend). “Valencia Circles” is a transitional/contemporary design that takes its inspiration from the stylized buds of “Valencia Floral.” “Valencia Stripe” is a variegated stripe that works well with all of the patterns in this group. Finally, we offer “Valencia” the solid chenille that it’s the perfect backdrop for the entire collection. On a side note, over the last few years Westgate has not always been able to beat our competition to the best products in the marketplace, but that is changing! This grouping was a favorite of the Kravet family for their line, but they were told that Westgate’s design team had beaten them to the punch. We try not to let this go to our heads, but it should let you know that not only are we striving to right both of our brands, we are doing it with introductions that our competition would love to have for their own brands!

Last season we introduced a transitional/contemporary pattern grouping that featured bold circles which we called “Shagadelic.” This proved to be wildly popular with our customers, and lead the pack of our Purchase Sample sales. This season we are happy to introduce this follow-up trio of patterns that reflect a similar styling! This time, however, the patterns are multi-purpose in weight, so the possibilities for application are far reaching. “Celestial” is the collection’s namesake pattern, and features large chenille circles which alternate color position every other horizontal row in the fabric. “Galaxy” is a mid-scaled coordinate which features solid chenille circles of different diameters, and to complete the group we introduce “Quasar” a herringbone solid companion for the theme setting patterns of the collection.

Transitional/contemporary patterns are the hot
properties in the fabric industry at the moment. This trend is gaining
popularity, and shows no sign of slowing! Westgate has, once again,
secured these patterns ahead of the Kravet family, and we think our
customers will happy that we did! We start with pattern “Bleeker”
a bold stylized floral. Its companion “Mulberry” is a tossed
foliage and petal design, and to compliment both we offer “Mercer”
a wide variegated drybrush stripe. The streets of old New York never

Tapestries have been around for hundreds of years.
When most think of these wonderful woven patterns they associate the
word tapestry with classic traditional florals. In recent years a range
of transitional and contemporary patterns have also been introduced.
This season Westgate presents a range of conversational tapestries that
offer the most well defined patterns and colors that we have seen in
quite some time. We have divided the patterns into two groupings. Our
first collection is more feminine in styling and is called the Ladies
that Lunch Collection. The collection’s namesake pattern leads the
way! “Ladies that Lunch” features well heeled women who,
well…like to lunch in the world’s finest restaurants! “Baxter’s
Buddies” shows that man’s best friend also knows a thing or two
about power shopping. “Bodacious” lives up to its name complete
with marabou, powder and perfume! “Paris Excursions” is a travel
journal for the city of lights and “National Velvet” is a
gentry’s fantasy! All of these wonderful patterns are imported
exclusively from Belgium for Westgate! |

The second collection of conversational tapestry
patterns for this season is aptly named the Gentlemen’s Agreement
Collection. More masculine in styling, this grouping of patterns is
sure to be a favorite for years to come. We start with three patterns
that feature one of the most requested themes from our customers…modern
golfing. For years golf patterns have been around, but they all tended
to focus on an antique look in styling and in the attire of the
golfers. All of our new golf tapestries are up to date in design.
“18th Hole” is an assemblage of the sights, tools and
even the language of the sport. “Par for the Course” is a
slightly cleaner variation on this same theme, and “Clubhouse Way”
is a scenic argyle that captures golf at its best! “Duck Blind”
features a marsh full of ducks of all species. “Moosehead Lodge”
combines tartan plaid and nature’s wilderness beauties in a new spin on
the American lodge look, and not to worry, the tartan plaid is available
as a pattern coordinate called “Moosehead Plaid!” The final
introduction in the collection reflects the love of the sea.
“Mariner’s Tale” is about all things nautical, and is sure to appeal
to a broad range of our customers. All patterns are Westgate
exclusives. |

Over the last decade Westgate has
established itself as a leader among the major fabric houses for its
innovative juvenile collections. This season we have added another
group of fashion forward exclusive patterns to our line that are sure to
bring a smile to the face of the young and the young at heart! We
start
things rolling by “cleaning up!” “Bathtime Friends” features a
happy hippo preparing for
another day of fun, and “Bathtime Bubbles” is the perfect “soap
bubble” coordinate. The king of beasts and his friends are depicted in
“Menagerie.” “Here Kitty Kitty” is sure to appeal not
only to children, but cat lovers everywhere! The last dramatic design
is entitled “Family” and is an over-scaled cartoon layout that
features mom, dad and the kiddos out for a stroll! These fresh designs
are imported from France, and are exclusive introductions from Westgate! |

Our final roadline collection of the
season is extremely timely! Our studio purchased this collection late
last spring when the trend toward transitional/contemporary patterns
seemed to be making a statement in the marketplace. The buy seems to
have been fortuitous! Two weeks ago in Frankfurt the Heimtextil fabric
market was filled with fabrics featuring this type of styling. These
looks were shown by almost every vendor as the most fashionable for the
coming year, and the Trend presentation at this market also emphasized
not only this form of design, but all of the color combinations you are
about to see in the Totally Cool Collection! “Groovy Flower Power”
is a lavish scaled floral printed in a painterly fashion. “Neato
Floral,” “Copasetic” and “Jazzed” are watercolor florals.
“Neato Floral” features stylized hydrangeas and “Copasetic”
is composed of tossed camellias and “Jazzed” spotlights large
stylized mums. The coordinates for the collection are not only
wonderful companions for the florals, but will also stand on their own
quite well! “Spot On” is a great large scale multi-colored polka
dot pattern. “Psychedelic” is a large retro bookend paper
design, and “Gnarly Stripe” is a handsome broad stripe. While in
Frankfurt our design team was thrilled to know that what was just being
shown as “trend” products for the coming year, would be available to our
customers in two short weeks! Totally cool don’t you think? |
