In the annuls of fabric
history the Payne brand always offered an array of multicolored and
monochromatic crewel embroideries included in the product
offerings. This season we start the
process of returning these one-of-a-kind works of art to the Payne
line. “Kashmir”
is a rambling floral vine, and
we
are pleased to introduce one multicolor combination and one
white-on-white monochromatic version! A true crewel on a cotton
ground with pure wool used in the embroidery, this handsome introduction
is continued proof to our customers that we are committed to the quest

“Les Petits Oiseaux” (The Little Birds) was
displayed at the Proposte fabric exhibition last May in Lake Como,
Italy. We knew when we saw it that it was perfect for the Payne brand
introductions for Spring 2006! This marvelous fil coupe woven features
young spring hatchlings playing
among the branches of tree limbs that are just about to explode with
their new buds for the coming summer. Note the incredible detail that
has been captured in this marvelous introduction! A French classic that
is soon to become a Payne classic! |

Damask patterns are always popular, but this season
Payne introduces two unique designs in this category that are sure to be
favorites of customers everywhere! “Medici Damask” takes a
classic framed damask layout and creates an updated classic by adding a
relaxed textured ground. Flecked with a soft strié of color this
background highlights and accents the richness of the pile used to
create the damask motif. A Belgian import offered in two wonderful
colorways! “Cleopatra Damask” is Hollywood retro at its dramatic
best! A large palmetto fan motif is the star here, and this handsome
pattern is not your everyday damask. Instead it is a sophisticated
head-turner that is sure to take center stage and become the star of
many best dressed roomsettings from coast to coast! |

During her tenure as Director of Design for the Payne
brand, Berneice Johnson became known for he love of “old world” cut
velvet designs. The Payne line and Payne customer benefited from this,
and this season in tribute to her contributions for thirty-six years of
design inspiration we are pleased to introduce this collection of three
luxurious imported patterns that she would just love! We think you will
too! All are Payne exclusives that echo her quest for elegant fabrics
for the American home. Offered in one perfect jewel color combination
we take pride in presenting “Cipriani Damask” an Imberline
damask, “Danielli Flame” a reintroduction of the classic flame
stitch, and “Regina Stripe” an exquisite coordinating stripe.
Typically “old world,” typically Berneice and now, once again,
typically Payne! |

Our design studio discovered the
patterns for the English Gardens Collection at the Decosit fabric
exhibition in Belgium in the offerings from an Italian weaver! Each
pattern features floral and foliage design motifs, and have been
produced in accordance to the coloring specifications from our design
staff exclusively for Payne. “Hargrove
Court” features tossed
blossoms and graceful foliage vines atop elegant strié grounds. It is
shown in six marvelous color combinations. “Surrey” combines a
fine-line plaid with delicate fil
coupe floral nosegays. The final two patterns in the collection create
a dynamic duo! “Hyde
Park” is a wonderful
combination of whisper soft dimensional trellis and intricately brocaded
ivy and berries. “Hyde
Park Garden” echoes the
trellis theme of “Hyde
Park” but instead of the ivy
motif it spotlights captivatingly dainty berry sprays. Both designs are
offered in seven coordinating colorways. Come into the garden with
these Payne exclusive wovens! |
